About 11:10pm last night, the tornado sirens went off in Cedar Rapids, which meant that my wife and I scooped up our two kids from their second floor beds and carried them to the basement half-asleep. We were especially prompt, given that the Iowa storms had already produced a significant tornado five hours earlier 80 miles northwest of us. Thankfully, we didn't suffer through what the people up there suffered through. That tornado destroyed a significant portion of Parkersburg, Iowa.
